The CAA UK ban lift on the H225/332L2 through a Safety and Operational Directive SD-2017/001.
Following the CAA UK ban lift on the H225/332L2 through a Safety and Operational Directive SD-2017/001 , The prerequisites for a return to service are :
The helicopter has to be compliant with EASA AD 2017-0111 of 23 June 2017, implying:
- A serviceable MGB with regards to 2nd stage planet gear type and SLL
- Compliance with all checks for particles as per EASB 05-A049-rev 6 for the H225; EASB 05-A045-rev 6 for the EC725/H225M, EASB 05.01.07 rev 6 for the 332L2 and EASB 05.00.82 rev6 for the 532 A2/U2;
- Installation of a (FFMP) prior to RTS as per SB 63-032 for the H225, SB 63-030 for the 725/H225M, SB-00-84 for the 332L2 and SB 63-00-39 for the 532 A2/U2.
- Issue and implementation of a comprehensive Return to Service plan (RTS safety case). The safety case has to be agreed with the relevant authority.
The Full Flow Magnetic Plug (FFMP) inserted in the MGB oil flow before the oil cooler, allows a significant reduction of the initial periodic oil cooler and oil filter inspection and to reduce the operators’ maintenance burden.
Its implementation transforms then a time consuming maintenance task (oil cooler removal/rinsing/installation) of several hours (4h45minutes), into a simple task (20 minutes), without any requirement for a ground run.
This new version is now available through the latest revision of SB 63-032 (H225), 63-030 (H225M). for the 332L2 and 532/A2/U2
